GREAT DEAL! September 6, 2010 Chillnndc (Maryland) I like this recorder! It is easy to use and it is reliable. I really wanted it because it allows me to save my tv programs on a DVD so I can watch them on my computer and take the DVDs with me. The only three problems with the machine is it lacks a volume control, online TV guide and it is a bit slow to load the DVD.
Toshiba DVD Recorder DR570 September 1, 2010 Gordon Parker (Milan, MI United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The unit arrived within two weeks of order, well ahead of the stated arrival date given. Set up was clear and well illustrated. Details regarding the operation of the recorder once installed were minimal. For one not completely familiar with the details of such a hookup installation required the assistance of an outside person who was familiar with the details. As the unit is, for this reviewer, fairly new it has yet to successfully achieve a working DVD recording. It may again be necessary to ask for outside help.

Toshiba DR570 DVD Recorder with Built in Tuner, BlackThe user's manual is well done. It extensively describes the auto time setting procedure which the machine has the capability for. However, with the advent of digital TV, time signals may not be available in your area. They weren't in mine. I checked with my local PBS station and they said that in the analog TV days, time signals were a part of their transmission. Now they are not being transmitted. I then used a manual time setting.
Setup is relatively easy. I had one setup question and called the help line, which was answered promptly. The answer was from a tech in the US central time zone, so there were no communication barriers.
Picture quality is excellent. I just made a four-hour recording and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent picture. The machine also auto-finalizes when the recording is completed. I recommend this recorder to anyone who is looking for a budget-priced machine.
disappointing August 21, 2010 isani68 This Toshiba dvd video recorder has been difficult to learn and use since we got it. We made the best of it until one evening, when not in use, we found that it had gone black. It gets no electricity. There were no storms and it was on a surge protector. Now we have to buy a new one. We've had it 9 months.
Toshiba DR570 DVD Recorder with Built in Tuner, black July 26, 2010 M. Hughes (Hope Mills, NC USA) I enjoy having a DVD recorder that I can use to record tv programming onto disc, however, the clock does not stay accurate for some reason, so I have to be there to actually start the recording process. It is a little time consuming and somewhat tedious to learn, but the pages in the manual can be paperclipped for future reference. Would not recommend recording on the 8 hour mode because the sound skips out a lot on playback! I know that you will come to love yours as I love mine though.
